St. Lucia Estuary Mouth
St. Lucia Estuary as a system is conected to the Ocean by a ever changing mouth system. At a time, before Sugar cane where farmed on the iMfolozi flood plains, the two river mouths formed one delta between the high vegetated sand dune on the South and the swamp forest on the North.
Since man started building hard surface developments in the early seventies on the Southern and Northern Shores of the Estuary mouth the delta disappeared. The iMfolozi River and St. Lucia Estuary where sepperated, by a man made Island from the dregging waist, from the 1970's on.
